Learning, Leading and Innovating: My Dual Passion for Education and the Environment

iap04546

I am Aphisara Patanakarun, known as Belle. Currently, I am a graduate student at Suffolk University’s Sawyer Business School, pursuing a dual-degree program in Business Analytics and Digital Marketing. Originally from Thailand, during my university years there, I worked as a private tutor, teaching Math, English, and Science across all age groups with a focus on fostering high student engagement and academic success. One of my proudest accomplishments during this time was founding a school for tribal children, where I facilitated education and community development through teaching and donations. This initiative was part of my active involvement as an organizer in volunteer activities through the university's volunteer club.

Designing the Sustainability Lens Game cards has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me, combining my passion for teaching, design, and sustainability. During a web design course last semester at university, I discovered a new interest that significantly influenced this project. One of my key contributions has been redesigning the word explanations on the cards to enhance clarity and accessibility for players of all ages. My aim has been to create engaging and easy-to-understand content that allows everyone to grasp sustainability concepts and enjoy the game. This project has been an exciting challenge, enabling me to apply my skills in a creative way and contribute to educating others about sustainability in an enjoyable and interactive manner.

My journey has always been driven by a passion for both working with children and promoting environmental sustainability. In 2018, my dedication to environmental sustainability was further recognized when I was selected to participate in the YSEALI Marine Debris Workshop in Indonesia. At the workshop, I organized hands-on training sessions for ASEAN youth leaders on managing marine debris, fostering regional collaboration in environmental conservation efforts. These experiences have deeply shaped my commitment to education and my goal of making learning accessible and sustainable for all.

Special thanks to Professor Stenn Tamara, my colleague MJ, and Anu for their steadfast support and dedication in bringing this game project to life. I eagerly anticipate its launch and look forward to witnessing its success!
